Was just wondering if anyone here downloads audio books from their local library. I do that all the time but they jst changed the platform of the site I used to get them from and I have a few questions. I'm having trouble geting this new media player I had to download to work. So far having no luck geting it to play the books.

I do, however I'm not sure I'm going to be able to help because the files I get don't need a dedicated player. They are simply DRM WMA files which can be played with any media player, Winamp, Windows Media player and so on. Do you know what type of files you are getting now?

Well I know some are WMA files but I have to down load this thing called overdrive media. AI used to play my books in winamp but with this new program not sure if or how I can do that.

I have used overdrive and Ifor the last year had a problem that every time I try to start a part of a book playing, nothing. I have to unplug and plug the speakers back in to get this to work. Maybe it is the same with you. If you have a set of plugins for earphones and microphone on the front of your computer, try plugging in your mic or pair of earphones after starting to play and then unplugging them and see if this doesn't help. If it does, it is the same problem I am having and the people that make the overdrive program blame the sound card manufacture and suggest updating to the latest drivers, which I did with no luck. I hope this answers some of your questions. this seems to be a wma problem, not an mp3 problem. Since I then, when possible transfer them to my ipod, I do that and get around this.

Guy's, you don't have to use overdrive to play the files though. All it does is download the files to your system. Once you have them you can play them in any media player like Winamp or Media Player.

Once they are downloaded lookin documents for a folder called My Media. Then in there you will have a folder for WMA books and a folder for MP3 books. The books are downloaded to these folders and you can play them straight from there.

last time I tried that, still had to do the same plug and unplug trick to start the files. Admittedly, it has been a wile and was with windows media player, didn't try any of the others. Didn't know the others supported Digital rights Management Actually. Thanks for that, will try next time I am needing to download a book.
